Diagnosis

Canine 404 (right mandibular canine) fractured for 2 years, referred from another clinic due to purulent discharge from pathological pocket of tooth 404 and soft tissue swelling around the canine. An X-ray of the mandibular canines was performed on the day of surgery. Photo shows osteitis around canine 404, pulp necrosis of tooth 404, huge periapical lesion with partial lysis of the mandibular bone.

1. Photo before the surgery.

Treatment

After tooth extraction, a bone defect of size of 5.2 cm. The tooth was extracted, alveolar curettage was conducted and the alveolus was treated with a FlexiOss®Vet preparation.

Treatment results

Follow-up after 28 days. The follow-up photo shows fragments of FlexiOss®Vet preparation at the site of the most severe bone lysis, undergoing transformation into bone tissue. No features of osteitis.
